PRECUT KIT DESIGN
Paint protection film dealers now use software and a computerized plotter to have the kits cut in-house. However, not all software is created equal. The crucial point of paint protection software is the number of pieces and size of the kits designed for the panels. Some software are developed to provide ease of installation by using multiple pieces on the front bumper. The disadvantage of such a design is that the seams will be more visible when the vehicle becomes dirty. All software we use are chosen for the quality of design.
CUSTOM INSTALLATIONS
For our clients who desire more seamless results, we provide one piece custom applications which eliminates most of the seams that are common with precut kits. This may consist of covering anywhere from custom front-end applications to entire vehicles. Although, "wrapping" an entire car may not seem practical for most vehicles, it is a Premier option for the supercars of our days (Murcielago, Enzo, Veyron, McLaren F1, Pagani, Carrera GT, etc.). Repainting any of these exotics can easily run into the $40,000-$50,000 range not to mention the loss in value of the car from a repaint.
We do have to stress that not all custom applications are equal. Some would consider taking a bulk piece of film and squeegee it down onto the bumper as a "custom" application. Not to mention the chance of inexperienced installers cutting into the paint with a blade (please review the gallery for redos from other installers as well as damaged paint caused by inexperienced installers performing custom work). Most installers on the market are not trained and experienced to perform this type of work, which is why they would create a stigma surrounding such applications. Traditionally, paint protection film has been considered by auto enthusiasts to be too visible due to orange peel texture and installation flaws. We at Eclipse are just as bothered by these aesthetic issues, which is why we only provide the clearest film(s) on the market. There are quite a few film manufacturers on the market that are constantly revamping current product lines.
