Beaches Tax Credit
Beaches Energy Tax Rebate
Beaches Energy $100 Rebate
For Installation of Window Film on Residential Homes

As part of recent legislation the United States Federal Government is increasing the tax credit available for residential homeowners to support using energy saving technology including window films. Under the new laws pertaining to section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code, homeowners can receive a 30% tax credit on the costs of qualified energy efficiency improvements, up to a maximum of $1500. Window film qualifies as an insulation material, and the credit includes the cost of the film only, not the cost of the film installation. Ask your installing window film dealer to clarify this point for you so that you have the appropriate documentation on your tax return. As always, you should seek the assistance of a qualified tax professional.

These tax credits directly reduce your income tax, which is much more beneficial
than a tax deduction (which decreases the amount of your income that is subject to income tax.)

There are three steps you must follow in order to pursue this tax credit:

  • Determine what climate zone your property is located in (see map below.)
  • Determine which window films qualify for the credit in your climate zone and with your window type. Download and print the manufacturer’s certification statement
  • Submit IRS Form 5695 with your 2009 Income Tax Return. Retain your
original film invoice showing the cost of the film only (not installation) as
well as Hanita’s manufacturer’s certification statement. While you may not need to submit these documents with your taxes, you should retain them
    for your records.
